‘Paired or Solo TRAIL adventure race’

29th to 31st May 2019

Welcome to the bowels of the earth and the Great Volcanic Crossing Experience, also known as ‘XGTV’.

Take part in this truly unique experience with a fabulous volcanic journey through the largest regional national park in mainland France: the Volcans d’Auvergne Regional National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The original concept and unique characteristics really set this race apart from all others. The Great Volcanic Crossing Experience® is all based on mental commitment, team spirit and adventure, as well as our shared sporting values and medium-range mountaineering skills.

This ultra-endurance event takes competitors on a 220km and 7500D+ long crossing of the Auvergne volcanoes, taking in some of the most iconic long-distance trails over 5 regions, including Monts Dômes, Monts Dore, Massif du Cézallier, Massif du Cantal and Plateau de l’Artense. This adventure race, where participants will only have a GPX route road book to follow 95% of the long-distance trail sign-posts (red/white), requires a good sense of direction, both on and off the trails. The route will allow you to discover the beauty and diversity of all the different regions that make up the Volcans d’Auvergne Regional National Park.

The Great Volcanic Crossing Experience® will be completed in teams of 2 participants who must stay together throughout or solo. However, if one of the participants in a Duo team drops out, the other Duo member may continue to be ranked on the Solo standings; in this case, the ranking will be done after the first participant in Solo left. To keep the spirit of sharing and for safety reasons, we favor the formation of teams in Duo. The XGTV organisation offers you a new concept: to start in Solo and to be able to form a Duo team at Support Station N° 1, in order to integrate the final ranking in Duo.

Two rankings will be established: 1 Duo ranking and 1 Solo ranking so that all participants can collect their UTMB points.

ITRA-certified route and UTMB-qualifying race: 6 points

Open to those aged 20 and over.
